ABOUT

Hi - I’m Elaine and in my talking therapy sessions I can help you to untangle your thoughts, understand what is going on inside your head and help you to discover new options and perspectives - because having someone to guide you in a safe, friendly space (ie ...me!) can make all the difference. I have worked in various counselling organisations with clients from 8 to 80. Additionally I have trained and worked as a Bereavement Support Worker. At my mature age I bring both life and professional experience to my practice. I've navigated bringing up children whilst moving around the globe, survived 30 years experience of working in the education system, and experienced those life transitions which happen as you get older (being a carer and experiencing the loss of loved ones). I’ve seen how grief, anxiety, and other personal struggles can show up so very differently in people so it’s important for me to see these issues from my client’s perspective and without judgement. And, as each person has different experiences, my approach allows me to use different techniques that I can adapt to best suit their needs. If you’re wondering what a therapy session will be like, don’t worry- you don’t have to have everything figured out. The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. I’ll listen to you to help understand your concerns. Together we’ll discuss and identify your goals for therapy. It’s not about "getting it perfect", it’s about starting the conversation and getting to know each other. Many people feel relief from just talking to me and having someone to listen and understand them. Plus, it’s completely okay to take things at your own pace ..... there’s no pressure to open up all at once. Therapy can be the start of a wonderful journey toward healing and personal growth. I’m here to help. to take things at your own pace ..... there’s no pressure to open up all at once.
